Get into the holiday spirit with a day of carols and singing! Each day will include a program of music and history of some of your favorite Christmas carols. A festive holiday lunch will be served, along with a morning snack and warm beverages.

Thursday December 2nd will feature Paul & Lois Christenson who were 1955 St Olaf grads and choir mates and have always made music a large part of their lives. Paul is a retired ELCA pastor after serving parishes in Madison and Delafield, WI, Decorah, IA, Evanston, IL and Sandnessjøen, Norway. Retirement brought them back to MN, - to Red Wing, - where they ran a B & B for 8 years, and where Paul was organist, choir director and worship coordinator at United Lutheran. Lois is also an organist, children’s choir and bell choir director and flautist. Together they raised 6 children (now living from Boston to Sydney, Australia) and traveled for 18 years as The Christenson Family Singers. They also directed youth in Norwegian Folk Dance while in Decorah. These young dancers performed regularly at the Nordic Fest and took several tours. Lois and Paul enjoy sharing music wherever they go!

Thursday, December 9th will feature Ruth Benning who attended St. Cloud State University and is passionate about music. She currently serves as an organist at Our Savior’s Lutheran church in Rochester, a pianist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, a substitute teacher and a private piano instructor. She has four grown children and has been a resident of Rochester, MN since 1979 where she is an active member of the American Guild of Organists and Rochester Keyboard Club. Ruth is sure to get you in the holiday spirit as she shares her musical gifts at our Carols of Christmas celebration!
